he inimitable design is a combination from an High Performance DJ Mixer, an high-end mutli-channel USB sound card and a blanket MIDI-control surface. The Zone:3D offers all tools for modern DJing.
The Mixer surface derives from Xone:92 and Zone:62, which are already industrial standard. It allows 4 stereo inputs, 3-band EQ with 'Total kill' function, a sophisticated CUE system, 2 stereo-return inputs, headphone monitoring with Mix/Cue control. The faders are high-qualitative 'dual rail' fader. The Xone:3D contains the Zone's trademark: the VCF-filter. It allows low-pass, band-pass and high-pass selection, resonance and frequency are adjustable. Additional there is a LFO with 'depth control'. The master section offers two-effect impression-ways with pre/post fader selection and a VCA crossfader.
The USB soundcard has got 8 channels. These work pairwise and can be used in two different combinations - 6 channels from a personal computer and two back or 4 channels from apersonal computer and 4 channels back. The sound card has got an individual, professional audio standard 24 bit stereo-converter with 48 kHz sampling rate. The card guarantees the best-possible sound quality from a laptop or computer.
The MIDI section offers control opportunities at both sides of the Zone:3D. All in all 8 faders, 16 rotary Potis, 10 encoder, 50 feelers and 2 costum jog wheels with microswitches are available, which can be used for the navigation of a software like Ableton Live or Traktor. The Zone:3D can send altogether 105 different MIDI control messages or the USB interface.
An automatical Beat detector synchronizes the MIDI Clock with the Main Mixer or with the FX2 Mix Bus. It can be deactivated for the manual beat entry. The Zone:3D owns connections for a foot switch and a gameport connection for an anlaoue joystick.
Both DJs Chris Liebing and Richie Hawtin were involved in the development of the Xone:3D as advisers and beta-testers.
